Summary
Overview: You can connect your Prosperna store to Claude or ChatGPT, so you can ask about your orders, products and customers — and make some changes — without leaving the AI app you already use. You copy one address from Prosperna, add it to Claude or ChatGPT as a connector, and approve the connection once. You choose what the app may do when you approve it, and you can disconnect it at any time.
Prerequisites:
- A store on the Launch, Grow, Scale or free trial plan.
- Store owner access. Team members can't connect an app.
- A Claude or ChatGPT account you can sign in to.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open the MCP tab
- In the sidebar, click Max AI, then AI Studio.
- In the AI Studio menu, click MCP.
The page opens with the title Claude & ChatGPT.
You can also get there from Settings → Connected apps in the sidebar, which opens the same page.
Step 2: Copy your store's address
Under Connect, the page says Add this address to Claude or ChatGPT. and shows your store's address.
- Click Copy. You see Copied.
- If copying doesn't work, you see Could not copy. Select the address and copy it. Select the address with your mouse and copy it yourself.
Keep this address to hand for the next step.
Step 3: Add the connector in your AI app
Click the Claude or ChatGPT button to see the steps for that app. The steps on screen are the ones to follow, because both apps rename their settings from time to time.
Claude
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector, name it Prosperna, paste the address, and click Add.
- Click Connect, sign in to Prosperna, and click Approve.
ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Apps & Connectors, and turn on Developer mode under Advanced settings.
- Click Create, name it Prosperna, paste the address, choose OAuth, and click Create.
- Sign in to Prosperna and click Approve.
If you're a team member rather than the owner, the page says Only the store owner can connect apps.
Step 4: Approve the connection
When the app sends you to Prosperna, you sign in and then see a page headed wants to access .
- Check the line You will be sent back to and the address under it. That's where you'll return after you approve.
- Read the list under It will be able to:. Each line is in plain words, for example Read your orders, Read your products and stock or Change your products: stock, visibility, prices and new products.
- Click Approve to connect the app, or Decline to stop.
If Prosperna doesn't recognise the app, you see an Unverified app badge and the warning Prosperna does not know this app. Only approve it if you trust it. Approve it only if you set it up yourself and you trust it.
Step 5: See what you can ask
Under What you can ask, the buttons across the top are the areas of your store: Orders, Products, Store, Notifications, Pages, Customers, Payouts, Traffic, Blog, Media and More.
Click an area to see a table with three columns:
- What — the thing the app can do.
- Details — what it does, in a sentence.
- Try asking — an example question you can paste into Claude or ChatGPT.
The list shows only what your store can actually use, so what you see here is what works.
Step 6: Check and disconnect your connected apps
Under Connected apps (store owner only), each app that holds access is listed with:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| App | The app's name, as it registered itself |
| Can | What you allowed it to do when you approved it |
| Connected | The date you approved it |
| Last used | The last time it used your store, or Never |
| Status | Active, or Disconnected once you've cut it off |
To cut an app off:
- Click Disconnect on its row.
- In Disconnect ?, read will lose access to your store immediately.
- Click Disconnect to confirm, or Cancel to keep it.
A disconnected app stays in the list with the status Disconnected, so you can still see what it had and when you cut it off.
If no app is connected yet, the section reads No apps are connected yet. Follow the steps above to connect Claude or ChatGPT.
Verify It Worked
Success criteria:
- After you click Approve, your AI app says the Prosperna connector is connected.
- The app appears under Connected apps with the status Active.
- Asking one of the Try asking questions in Claude or ChatGPT gets you an answer about your own store.
- After a Disconnect, the row's status changes to Disconnected and the app can no longer reach your store.
Troubleshooting
Common errors
- "This sign-in request has expired. Go back to Claude and click Connect again.": the approval page was left open too long. Start the connection again from your AI app.
- "Only the store owner can connect outside apps.": you're signed in as a team member. Ask the store owner to connect the app.
- "We could not read this sign-in request. Please try again.": close the page and start the connection again from your AI app.
- "Something went wrong. Please try again.": your Approve or Decline didn't go through. Click it again.
- "We could not load your connected apps.": click Try again.
- "Could not disconnect. Please try again.": the app still has access. Click Disconnect again.
- "We could not load this right now." under What you can ask: refresh the page and try again.
- "Nothing is available in this environment yet.": no actions are switched on for your store yet. Try again later.
- "Could not copy. Select the address and copy it.": select the address on screen and copy it with your keyboard.
Limitations & considerations
- Only the store owner can connect an app, see Connected apps or disconnect one. Team members see the setup steps and the list of what the apps can do, but not the connected apps.
- An app can only do what you allowed under It will be able to: when you approved it. To change that, disconnect the app and connect it again.
- A disconnected app stays in the list for 30 days, then drops off.
- Claude and ChatGPT change the names of their own settings from time to time. If their menus don't match, follow the steps shown on the Claude & ChatGPT page, which are kept up to date.
- Anything the app does with your store uses your store's own data. Treat the connection like signing the app in to your dashboard.
