Summary

Overview: Mode on the Pages list decides what your business does online: sell with a cart and checkout, show a catalogue and take inquiries, or run a website with no shop at all. One click sets the shop pages (Products, Cart and Checkout) for you, so you never have to publish or unpublish them one by one.

Prerequisites:

  • Store owner access, or a team member with Page Builder access.
  • For Catalog with inquiries: a Grow or Scale plan, and a connected store email so inquiries reach your inbox. See How to Set Up Your Store Email.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Pages list

  1. In the sidebar, click Page Builder, then All Pages.
  2. Above the table you see Mode — What does your business do online? We set your shop pages for you.

Step 2: Pick the mode that matches your business

Click one of the three tiles:

Mode What it does Shop pages
Online store Sell products, accept online payments, and manage orders with a full shopping cart and checkout. Products, Cart and Checkout published
Catalog with inquiries (Grow and Scale) Show your products and prices, and take inquiries and quote requests instead of online orders. Products published, Cart and Checkout unpublished
Website only Showcase your business, capture leads, and collect inquiries with custom forms and contact pages. Products, Cart and Checkout all unpublished

The mode you are on is highlighted. On Launch and the free trial, Catalog with inquiries shows a crown and can't be clicked, and a line underneath reads Catalog with inquiries is for Grow and Scale plans.

When the change goes through you see a message naming the new mode, for example Store mode: Online store.

Step 3: What changes with Catalog with inquiries

Choosing Catalog with inquiries also turns on Request Quotations/Book Appointments in Settings → Store → Business Operations, so your products show your quotation button instead of Add to Cart. Moving to another mode turns it back off and brings Add to Cart back. See How to Turn On Checkout for Your Store.

Prosperna also keeps the page your quotation button opens published, and that row in the Pages list is marked Request for Quotation opens it.

If your store email isn't connected yet, a line appears under the tiles: Connect Gmail so inquiries reach your inbox. with a Connect Gmail button.

Step 4: Read the shop page rows

In the Pages list, the shop pages no longer have their own Publish / Unpublish switch. Instead their Status column carries a note:

  • Cart and Checkout: Set by Store mode
  • Products on a Website only store: Set by Store mode
  • Thank you: Always published — shoppers land on it after paying, so it stays on in every mode (it is kept out of search engines)

Your own pages (Home, About Us, Contact Us, blog pages and anything you created) keep their own publish controls in every mode.

Step 5: Check your online store

Open your online store and check what shoppers see:

  • Online store: products, the cart icon in the header, and checkout all work.
  • Catalog with inquiries: products and prices show, with your quotation button. The cart icon is hidden and the cart and checkout pages are not served.
  • Website only: the product list sends shoppers back to your home page, and the cart icon is hidden.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • You see Store mode: Online store., Store mode: Catalog with inquiries. or Store mode: Website only.
  • The tile you picked is highlighted in Mode.
  • On your online store, the cart icon and the product pages match the mode you chose.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • "Turn on Request for Quotation in Store Settings before choosing Catalog with inquiries.": switch Request Quotations/Book Appointments on under Settings → Store → Business Operations, then pick the mode again.
  • "Turn off Request for Quotation in Store Settings before leaving Catalog with inquiries.": switch it off first, then choose Online store or Website only.
  • "Failed to change the Store mode.": the change didn't save. Try again, and check your connection.
  • Catalog with inquiries is greyed out with a crown: it needs the Grow or Scale plan. See How to Choose a Prosperna Plan.
  • The Mode tiles are missing: your store has no shop pages to set yet. Add your first product and they appear.

Limitations & considerations

  • A brand-new store starts with its shop pages unpublished. They publish by themselves the first time you make a product live, so checkout never opens on an empty catalogue.
  • Stores that were already live keep their shop pages exactly as shoppers saw them. Nothing changes until you pick a mode.
  • The mode is not a separate setting you can read back somewhere else: it follows Request for Quotation and whether the Cart page is published.
  • The Thank you page can't be unpublished.
  • Changing the mode never deletes a page or its design. Unpublished pages are simply not served to shoppers.
