Summary
Overview: Menu View shows your products in a menu-style layout (2 columns, grouped by category, with infinite scrolling), which suits restaurants, cafés and food stalls. QR Code Menu lets dine-in customers scan a QR code at their table to view your menu, order and pay from their phone. Each table gets its own QR code, so you know which table each order came from.
Prerequisites:
- A store on the Launch, Grow, Scale or free trial plan.
- Store owner access, or a team member with Store settings & administration access.
- For QR Code Menu: at least one store location, and Display Add to Cart Button switched on in Settings → Store → Business Operations (see How to Turn On Checkout for Your Store).
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Activate the apps in the Marketplace
- In the sidebar, click Marketplace.
- On the All tab, click Learn More on Menu View.
- Click Free — Activate. When you see App activated successfully!, the button reads Activated. Close the window.
- Do the same for QR Code Menu.
Step 2: Turn on the Menu View layout
- In the sidebar, click Settings, then Store.
- Scroll to Product Listing.
- Under Select a Layout, switch Menu View on. You can keep Grid View and List View on too.
- Under Set the Default Layout of the Product Listing Page, choose Menu View if you want customers to see the menu layout first.
- Click Save. You see Successfully updated menu view. (or the name of the default layout you chose).
If you turn on more than one layout, customers can switch between them on your products page.
Step 3: Turn on QR Code Menu and set your tables
- In Settings → Store, scroll to Business Operations.
- Make sure Display Add to Cart Button is on.
- Switch QR Code Menu on.
- In Select Store Location:, choose the location where the tables are.
- In Set Number of Tables:, type how many tables you have (1 to 100).
- Click Save.
- The QR codes appear below, one per table, labelled Table 1, Table 2 and so on.
If you have more than one location, repeat steps 4 to 6 for each one.
Step 4: Download or print your QR codes
- Under each QR code, click Download to save it as an image file, or Print to print it.
- Place each code on its matching table.
Each code opens your store's product page for that location and table.
Step 5: See how customers order
- The customer scans the QR code at their table. Your store opens on their phone.
- A window shows your store name and asks Hello! Are you a:
- New Customer: starts a new order for that table.
- Update Existing Order: the customer types the order's reference number under Enter Reference No. and clicks Confirm to add to an order already placed.
- The customer adds items to the cart and clicks Place Order.
- At checkout, the customer chooses how to pay: Pay at the Counter, or (Philippine stores) an e-wallet or a card.
- A Thank You! page shows their Table #. If they chose Pay at the Counter, it says Please proceed to the counter to settle your payment. They can tap Place a New Order to order again.
Step 6: Manage QR Code Menu orders
- In the sidebar, click Orders. QR orders show QR Menu in the channel column. To see only these, filter by QR Menu.
- Open an order and update its status as you prepare it. QR Code Menu orders use these statuses: Open, Preparing, Ready, Completed and Cancelled.
- Click Update to save.
What happens when an order is closed:
- When you mark an order Completed or Cancelled, its table is freed for the next customer.
- For Pay at the Counter orders, Completed sets the payment to Paid, and Cancelled sets it to Declined Payment.
- You can move an order to another free table while it's still open. A table that's in use shows as occupied.
- To update several QR orders at once, select them in the Orders list and use the bulk update option QR Menu (Pay at the Counter).
Verify It Worked
Success criteria:
- Menu View and QR Code Menu show Activated in the Marketplace and appear on My Apps.
- Your products page shows the menu layout (or offers it as a layout option).
- After saving Business Operations, one QR code appears per table.
- Scanning a code on your phone opens your store with the New Customer / Update Existing Order window.
- A test order appears in Orders with QR Menu as the channel.
Troubleshooting
Common errors
- The QR Code Menu switch is missing from Business Operations: the QR Code Menu app isn't activated. Activate it in the Marketplace (Step 1).
- The QR Code Menu switch is greyed out: Request Quotations/Book Appointments is on. Turn it off and turn on Display Add to Cart Button. Turning Display Add to Cart Button off also turns QR Code Menu off.
- The Menu View switch is greyed out with a crown icon: hover over it. Activate Menu View in the Marketplace to use this layout. means you need to activate the app. Available on any paid plan. means you need a paid plan.
- "Enable at least one.": switch on at least one layout before saving Product Listing.
- "Cannot reduce table count below number of occupied tables": some tables still have open orders. Complete or cancel those orders first, then lower the number.
- "Table #N is occupied.": you tried to move an order to a table that's in use. Pick a free table.
- A customer sees "The system has detected that there is still an active order on this table. Please contact the staff and ask for assistance.": that table still has an open order. Complete or cancel it, or ask the customer to use Update Existing Order.
Limitations & considerations
- Tables are set per store location, up to 100 tables per location. A higher number is lowered to 100.
- A table stays occupied until its order is marked Completed or Cancelled.
- You can't change the table of an order that's Completed or Cancelled.
- Deactivating QR Code Menu in the Marketplace turns the QR Code Menu switch off. Deactivating Menu View removes the Menu View layout, and if it was your default, your store switches back to Grid View.
