How to Offer Wholesale Pricing

Summary

Overview: Wholesale pricing gives selected customers a lower price per item when they buy in bulk. You set up to 5 pricing tiers on a product (for example ₱90 each for 10 pcs, ₱80 each for 50 pcs) and mark which contacts are wholesale customers. Only those customers see and get the wholesale prices.

Prerequisites:

  • A store on the Launch, Grow, Scale or free trial plan.
  • Products without variants. See How to Add Your First Product.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Activate the Wholesale app

  1. In the left sidebar, click Marketplace.
  2. On the All tab, find the wholesale pricing app (marked FREE!) and click Learn More.
  3. Click Free — Activate. You see App activated successfully! and the button changes to Activated.

Step 2: Add pricing tiers to a product

  1. In the sidebar, click Products, then Inventory, and open the product (or add a new one).
  2. Scroll to Wholesale Pricing. It appears below the price once the app is active.
  3. Click + Add Pricing Tier.
  4. Under Create Pricing Tier, enter:
    • Quantity: the minimum number of items for this price.
    • Price: the price per item.
  5. Click Save. The tier is saved straight away.
  6. Repeat for more tiers. You can add up to 5. The counter shows, for example, 2 / 5 Pricing Tiers.

A tier's price applies until the customer reaches the quantity of the next higher tier. To change a tier, click its pencil icon. To delete it, click its trash icon.

Step 3: Mark wholesale customers

  1. In the sidebar, click Contacts.
  2. Add a contact, or open an existing one and click Edit Contact.
  3. Set Customer Type to Wholesale Pricing.
  4. Click Save.

What your customers see

When a wholesale customer is signed in to your online store, each product with tiers shows a Wholesale Price list, for example ₱80.00 each for a minimum order of 50 pcs. Other customers see your regular prices.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • In Marketplace, the app shows Activated.
  • The product's Wholesale Pricing section lists your tiers as Quantity and Price Per Item.
  • Signed in as a wholesale customer, the product page shows the Wholesale Price list.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • "Quantity already exists.": another tier uses the same quantity. Use a different quantity.
  • "Price already exists.": another tier uses the same price. Use a different price.
  • "Price is not consistent with other pricing tiers.": a bigger quantity must have a lower price. Check the order of your tiers.
  • "5 pricing tiers limit reached.": delete a tier before adding another.
  • I can't find the Wholesale Pricing section: activate the app (Step 1). The section isn't shown for products with variants.
  • Choosing Wholesale Pricing for a contact opens Marketplace: the app isn't active yet. Activate it, then try again.

Limitations & considerations

  • Wholesale prices only show to signed-in contacts whose Customer Type is Wholesale Pricing.
  • Pricing tiers are set per product. Products with variants can't have tiers.
  • Deleting a tier happens straight away, with no confirmation.
