Summary

Overview: Announcements puts a message on your online store. You can have one Floating Bar (a strip at the top or bottom of the page) and one Popup (a box in the middle of the screen or sliding in from a corner). A Popup can also include a sign-up form that adds visitors to your contacts. You choose which pages show each one, and when it appears.

Prerequisites:

  • A store on the Launch, Grow, Scale or Premium Trial plan.
  • Store owner access, or a team member with Store settings & administration access.
  • The free Announcements app activated in the Marketplace (Step 1).
  • Published store pages, so you can choose where the announcement shows.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Activate the Announcements app

  1. In the sidebar, click Marketing, then Announcements.
  2. If the app isn't active yet, you're taken to its Marketplace page. Click Free — Activate. You see App activated successfully! and the button changes to Activated.
  3. Go back to Marketing → Announcements.

Step 2: Choose the campaign type

Under Campaign Type, choose Floating Bar or Popup. Each type keeps its own settings. Save saves only the type you have selected.

Step 3: Write the content and set the look (Design & Content tab)

  1. In Content, type your message. Use the toolbar for headings, bold, italics, lists, alignment and links.
  2. Under Appearance, pick the Font Color and Background Color.
  3. For a Popup, you can also set the Corner Radius.
  4. Check the Preview panel on the page.

Step 4: Add a sign-up form (Popup only, Form tab)

  1. Switch on Fields.
  2. First Name, Last Name and Email are always included. Tick any extra fields: Mobile Number, Address, State/Province, City/Town, Barangay, Zip / Postal Code. Drag fields to change their order.
  3. To change a field, click its gear icon. Edit the Label and Placeholder, tick Make as Required Field, and choose a Field Width (Full Width or Half Width). Then click Save.
  4. Under Button Settings, set the button's font and colors.
  5. To show a thank-you message after someone submits, switch on Success Page and write the Content.

Each form someone submits adds that person to your contacts. See How to Manage Your Contacts.

Step 5: Add extra tools (Popup only, Tools tab)

  • Privacy Policy: adds a checkbox with your text, which visitors must tick before they submit.
  • File Upload: lets visitors attach a file. Set the Field Name.
  • Captcha: adds a simple math question.
  • ReCaptcha: adds Google reCAPTCHA. Enter your Site Key from the Google reCAPTCHA Admin Console.

Step 6: Choose where and when it appears (Display Settings tab)

  1. Under Position, choose:
    • Floating Bar: Top or Bottom.
    • Popup: Middle, or Slide-in. For Slide-in, choose a Slide-in Position: Bottom Left or Bottom Right.
  2. Turn on at least one trigger:
    • On Page Entrance: shows when a visitor opens the page. Set a Delay (secs.) to wait before it appears.
    • On Page Exit: shows when a visitor moves to leave your site. Set an Appearance Frequency Limit, or tick Always display.
  3. For each trigger you turn on, tick All Pages or pick the pages it should show on.

Step 7: Save

Click Save. You see Campaign settings updated successfully. The announcement shows on your store's chosen pages.

Step 8: Turn an announcement off

There's no delete button. To stop showing an announcement, open its campaign type, switch off both On Page Entrance and On Page Exit, and click Save. Your content is kept for next time.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • You see Campaign settings updated successfully.
  • When you open one of the chosen pages on your store, the Floating Bar or Popup appears in the right position, after the delay you set.
  • If you added a form, a test submission shows Message sent successfully! (or your Success Page), and the person appears in your contacts.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • I'm taken to the Marketplace when I open Announcements: the Announcements app isn't activated. Click Free — Activate.
  • "Announcements is only available for LAUNCH, GROW, and SCALE plans.": your store is on the Free plan. See How to Choose a Prosperna Plan.
  • The announcement doesn't show on my store: check that at least one trigger is on and the page is ticked, then click Save again. Announcements don't show on the login, register and logout pages.
  • A page I published later doesn't show the announcement: All Pages covers the pages you had when you saved. Open Display Settings, tick the new page or All Pages again, and click Save.
  • The On Page Exit popup doesn't show on phones: this trigger detects the mouse leaving the browser window, so it works on computers. Use On Page Entrance for mobile visitors.
  • "Something went wrong. Please try again." (visitor submitting the form): ask the visitor to try again. Check that all required fields are filled.

Limitations & considerations

  • You can have one Floating Bar and one Popup at a time.
  • There are no start or end dates. Turn an announcement off yourself when the promotion ends (Step 8).
  • On small phone screens, a Floating Bar always shows at the top.
  • Visitors can close the Floating Bar with the ×. Clicking outside a Middle popup closes it.
  • Deactivating the Announcements app in the Marketplace turns off both announcements but keeps their settings.
