Summary

Overview: Settings → Shipping is where you choose how your customers receive their orders. Each shipping method has its own card. You set up a method once (payment options, checkout text and pickup address), then switch it on or off from its card. Customers only see the methods that are switched on. The same page also has the Guest Checkout switch.

Prerequisites:

  • A store on the Launch, Grow, Scale or Premium Trial plan.
  • Store owner access, or a team member with Store settings & administration access.
  • At least one active store location. You need it before you can add a pickup address. See How to Add Your Store Location.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Shipping page

  1. In the sidebar, click Settings, then Shipping.
  2. The Shipping Settings page opens. Under Prosperna Shipping you see one card for each shipping method available to your store.

Which cards you see depends on your store's country:

Shipping method Philippine stores US stores What it does
Standard Delivery Yes No Delivery by J&T.
Same Day Delivery Yes No Same-day delivery by Lalamove.
Scheduled Delivery - Lalamove Yes, only after you activate the Custom Delivery Date app No Lalamove delivery on a date and time slot the customer picks.
Manual Shipping by Customer Yes Yes The customer books and pays for their own delivery service outside Prosperna.
Manual Shipping by Merchant Yes Yes You set your own shipping rates and book the delivery yourself.
Store Pickup Yes Yes The customer picks up the order from your store location.
USPS No Yes Live USPS rates on your own USPS account.

Below the shipping method cards, Philippine stores also see the Lalamove and J&T account sections, and US stores see the USPS account section. Those are covered in the courier articles listed at the end.

Step 2: Set up a shipping method

  1. On the shipping method's card, click Set Up. (After the first save, the button reads Manage.)
    • If the card shows Activate instead (Standard Delivery and Same Day Delivery), the courier isn't turned on for your store yet. Clicking Activate takes you to the courier's page in the Marketplace. See How to Ship with Prosperna's Courier Partners.
  2. The method's page opens on the Settings tab. Under Payment Option (Choose at least one), tick the payment methods customers can use with this shipping method. See Step 3.
  3. For Manual Shipping by Customer, Manual Shipping by Merchant and Store Pickup, check the text customers see at checkout:
    • Shipping Description (up to 180 characters): shown with the shipping method at checkout.
    • Pickup Instructions (for Manual Shipping by Merchant, this box is called Delivery Information), up to 500 characters: shown on the checkout page after the customer chooses the method.
    • Both boxes start with default text. Click Reset to Default under a box to go back to it.
  4. Click Save.

The first time you save a method, you see Successfully set up shipping settings. and the method is switched on. After that, saving shows Successfully updated shipping settings.

Important: Clicking Save on a method's settings page always switches that method on, even if you had switched it off. If you only wanted to edit a method that should stay off, switch it off again afterwards (Step 5).

Step 3: Choose the payment options for each method

The Payment Option list shows only the payment methods your store can offer. Some boxes are greyed out because the shipping method doesn't support them:

Shipping method (Philippine stores) Bank Transfer Cash on Delivery Cash on Pickup Online options (Credit Card, E-Wallets, Over The Counter)
Standard Delivery Yes Yes No Yes, when shown
Same Day Delivery, Scheduled Delivery - Lalamove No No No Credit Card and E-Wallets only, when shown
Manual Shipping by Customer, Manual Shipping by Merchant Yes Yes No When shown, may be greyed out until your account's billing verification is approved
Store Pickup Yes No Yes When shown, may be greyed out until your account's billing verification is approved
  • Credit Card, E-Wallets and Over The Counter only appear for stores that still use myPay and haven't connected Xendit. Once Xendit is connected, these boxes are hidden because your Xendit account decides which online channels customers see. See How to Set Up Payments for Your Store.
  • US stores only see Cash on Delivery and Cash on Pickup in this list. Cash on Delivery works with the two manual shipping methods, and Cash on Pickup works with Store Pickup.
  • To learn how cash orders work, see How to Accept Cash Payments (Cash on Delivery and Cash on Pickup).

Step 4: Add a pickup address

After a method is set up and switched on, its Settings tab shows Business Pickup Address: the address where the courier picks up the package (or, for Store Pickup, where customers collect their orders).

  1. Click + Add Pickup Address. The button only shows while at least one active store location doesn't have a pickup address for this method yet.
  2. Fill in the Add New Address form and click Save. You see Successfully added pickup address.
  3. To change an address later, click the pencil icon on its row in the table.

Each store location can have one pickup address per shipping method. For the full form, see How to Set Up Store Pickup.

If you see Store location is required before you can add a pickup address. Go to Locations Settings to set up the location of your store., click Locations Settings and add a store location first.

Step 5: Switch a method on or off

  1. Go back to Settings → Shipping.
  2. Use the switch at the top right of the method's card. You see Successfully updated shipping settings.

The switch only appears on a card after you have saved that method's settings at least once.

Step 6 (optional): Turn on Guest Checkout

At the top right of the Shipping Settings page, switch Guest Checkout on to let customers check out without creating an account. Switch it off to require an account.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • After you click Save, you see Successfully set up shipping settings. or Successfully updated shipping settings.
  • On Settings → Shipping, the method's card shows Manage and its switch is on.
  • The method's settings page no longer shows the warning that it is switched off.
  • On your store's checkout page, customers can choose the method. Delivery methods are listed under Delivery, and Store Pickup under Store Pickup. When both kinds are on, customers first choose Delivery or Store Pickup.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • "Please select at least one payment option.": every shipping method needs at least one payment option. Tick one, then click Save.
  • A payment option is greyed out: that shipping method doesn't support it. Use the table in Step 3.
  • "[Method] is switched off" warning on a method's page: customers won't see the method at checkout, and some settings, including the pickup address, stay hidden until you switch it on. Switch it on from Settings → Shipping.
  • I can't see the Business Pickup Address section: the method is switched off. Switch it on, then open Manage again.
  • "Shipping Description field is required.", "Pickup Instructions field is required." or "Delivery Information field is required.": the box is empty. Type your text or click Reset to Default, then click Save.
  • The card has no on/off switch: save the method's settings once. The switch appears after the first save.
  • "Lalamove is temporarily unavailable. System maintenance ongoing. We will be back shortly." on the Same Day Delivery or Scheduled Delivery - Lalamove card: Lalamove can't be used for now. Try again later.
  • No shipping method shows at checkout (customers see No shipping method available): no method is switched on. Switch at least one on.

Limitations & considerations

  • Standard Delivery, Same Day Delivery and Scheduled Delivery - Lalamove are for Philippine stores only. USPS is for US stores only.
  • Scheduled Delivery - Lalamove only appears after you activate the Custom Delivery Date app. See How to Offer Same Day and Scheduled Delivery.
  • Manual Shipping by Customer and Store Pickup don't charge a shipping fee. To charge your own rates, use Manual Shipping by Merchant. See How to Set Up Manual Shipping and Shipping Rates.
  • Shipping options don't show at checkout when the cart has only digital products.
