How to Use the Merchandiser Agent

Summary

Overview: The Merchandiser agent in Max AI looks after your product catalog. Ask it to find products, check stock, improve titles and descriptions, fix product photos, or make a short promotional video reel. For changes to your products, Max can ask for your approval before it saves anything.

Prerequisites:

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Merchandiser

  1. In the sidebar, click Max AI.
  2. On Choose who you want to work with to get started., click Start chatting on the Merchandiser card. If you're already in a chat, click the agent button in the message box and choose Merchandiser.

The message box asks What products would you like to create or improve today? You can also open the Merchandiser from the Manage Products with MaxAI card on your inventory page.

Step 2: Pick a product to work on

  1. Under Tools & Capabilities, click My Products. Or type @products in the message box.
  2. In My Products, use Search products... to find it. Each row shows the product's picture, name and SKU. Use the arrows to see more pages.
  3. Click the product. It's added to your message as a chip. You can add more than one product.
  4. Type what you want, for example Improve the title and description, and press Enter.

Step 3: Improve a listing

  1. Click Improve Listing. It fills in Help me improve the title and description for this product listing.
  2. Add the product (Step 2) and press Enter.
  3. Max suggests a better title and description. It may first ask what the product is, so tell it a few details (for example the material, size or who it is for). If Max shows an Approval needed card with the change, check it, then click Approve or Reject.

You can ask for SEO-friendly titles, category ideas or pricing suggestions the same way.

Step 4: Fix product photos

  1. Click Fix Product Photos. It fills in I want to improve a product photo. and opens your Media Library.
  2. Pick the photo (or click Upload Image to add one), then click Select.
  3. Say what you want: remove the background, enhance the quality or adjust the lighting. Press Enter.
  4. Max shows the improved photo in the chat. Click it to see it full size.

Step 5: Make a promo reel

  1. Click Promo Reel. It fills in Create a short promotional reel for this product.
  2. Add the product (Step 2) and press Enter.
  3. Max makes the video in the background and shows its progress under Processing.... You can leave the page; the progress picks up again when you come back.
  4. When it's ready, the video plays in the chat. Click Download to save it, or Copy link to share it.

Step 6: Manage your catalog by chat

Ask in plain words, for example:

  • Which products are low on stock?
  • Add a new product to my store.
  • Publish all products in my Summer category.
  • Help me organize my product categories.

When Max shows an Approval needed card, check the change before you click Approve. When it covers more than 5 products, click Show all to see every one.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • After Approve, Max confirms the change in the chat, and the product shows it in your inventory.
  • An improved photo or a finished reel appears in the chat.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • "No products found": check the spelling in Search products..., or add products first.
  • "Only accepts .jpg, .png, .ico, and .webp file types." or "10MB max size limit reached. Try again.": upload a JPG, PNG, ICO or WebP photo under 10 MB.
  • The reel stopped with an error: click Retry.
  • I can't type a message: answer the Approval needed card above first.
  • "You’re out of AI credits.": click Top Up Now, or see How to Buy AI Credits.

Limitations & considerations

  • The Merchandiser can only mention products. To mention orders, pages or blogs, switch to Copilot.
  • Max shows one approval card at a time.
  • Each request uses AI Credits. Promo reels usually take longer than other requests.
