Summary

Overview: Temporarily Close pauses checkout for one store location for the dates and times you set, and shows customers a short banner message. Use it for holidays, inventory days or any planned break. Each store location has its own schedule and its own on/off switch.

Prerequisites:

  • A store on the Launch, Grow, Scale or free trial plan.
  • At least one active store location. See How to Add Your Store Location.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open Temporarily Close

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Settings → Store.
  2. In the Store Settings menu, click Temporary Close. The section is titled Temporarily Close.
  3. The table lists each active store location with its Store Name and opening hours, Custom Date, Status and Actions.

Step 2: Set the closing dates and banner text

  1. On the location's row, click Set Date & Time (or open the ⋯ menu under Actions and click Edit).
  2. The Edit Closing Schedule Details page opens.
  3. Under Text, type the message customers will see in the banner, for example We're closed for the holidays and will reopen on January 3. You can use up to 200 characters.
  4. Under Set Schedule, choose Close From and Close To (date and time).
  5. Click Add Custom Date. The period appears in the Close Dates table.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to add more closing periods.
  7. To remove a period, click the delete icon on its row.
  8. Click Save. You see Temporary close details successfully updated.

Click Cancel to go back to Store Settings without saving.

Step 3: Switch the location's status on

  1. Back in Temporarily Close, switch on the Status toggle for the location.
  2. You see Successfully updated temporary close status.

The closing schedule only takes effect while the location's Status is on. Switch it off to reopen the location early, without deleting your dates.

Step 4: Review a location's schedule

  • The Custom Date column shows up to 5 closing periods. Click View all to see every period.
  • To view without editing, open the ⋯ menu and click View. On Closing Schedule Details, click Edit to make changes.

What your customers see

While a location is closed:

  • A banner with your Text appears at the top of your online store.
  • When a customer tries to check out, a Store Closed window says [Location] is currently closed. The Store will be closed from [date and time] until [date and time]. Thank you! The customer can't continue to checkout until the closing period ends.
  • Carts that contain only digital products can still be checked out.
  • If you use Custom Delivery Date, customers can still order for a later delivery date. The date picker blocks your closed dates.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • The location's Custom Date column shows your closing period, and its Status toggle is on.
  • During the closing period, your online store shows the banner and the Store Closed window appears at checkout.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • "Please select both Close From and Close To": pick both a start and an end date and time before clicking Add Custom Date.
  • "Close From must be before Close To": the end of the period is earlier than the start. Fix the dates.
  • "Invalid date/time": the date or time isn't complete. Pick it again from the calendar.
  • No banner appears during my closing period: check that the location's Status is on and that you typed a banner Text. The banner only shows when there is text.
  • A crown icon shows and an upgrade window opens: your plan doesn't include Temporarily Close. See How to Choose a Prosperna Plan.

Limitations & considerations

  • Closing dates are set per store location. Set each location separately.
  • Only checkout of physical products is paused. Customers can still browse your store.
  • Once a location's Status is on and closing details are saved, customers also see the Store Closed window when they try to check out outside that location's opening hours. The window then shows the opening hours instead of a closing period.
  • Closing periods stay in the list after they end. Delete old ones from the Edit Closing Schedule Details page.
  • Dates and times in the tables are shown in your device's time zone.
